Fave5 vs. facebook

well long time no post...

but i have an all important question...

how can i have 165 friends in facebook but i cant even fill out my Fave5 on my cell phone...

its even more pathetic... 2 are for my wife (home & work) & 1 is for my mom.... good thing i'm married cause then i would really look pathetic...

am i back yet

you know the old saying the mechanic never works on his own car... well this computer nut had to reload windows XP when he changed anti-virus software (that and it was time to anyways... as it turns out the default windows firewall is actually pretty good so i unloaded my bloated software firewall also...)

well that means several days of program reinstalls and then catching all the latest updates on all of them.... well i am finally done....

now i can start to blog again... by the time i got done each day i just couldn't stand to look at the screen any longer.... so here goes it for another very very very long run with having to reinstall windows ( or i have got to learn how to do my own slipstream installation like the corporations do)

untill tomorrow..... toodles....

an actual fully cooked meal made at home

yep.... mission successful... took a laundry basket to the kitchen (its portable and i needed the oven ... if you ever been pushed for time and the kitchen is a mess you should catch my drift)... magically made the kitchen instantly or almost instantly clean

boars head bacon..
2 eggs...
spinach/rice pasta (gluten free kind)
fresh ground parmesan
pinch of fresh ground pepper
butter..

blend while hot....tasty ... very delicious..

this is the original old style spaghetti carbonara... any thing else like garlic or cream has been added later is not traditional....

ps.... kids love this too...

now just to hide tonights dinner dishes....................... just kidding ...

it's hard to shop

well actually its hard to eat what you shop for.... i mean.... for myself... i would eat tons of fruit if someone would just cut it for me... i don't even need it skinned... talk about pathetic... then my wife... she got lunch bored.... see i can eat the same meal every day every week ... but my wife.. its a different story... anyways about 3 hours later and we only have enough food for a couple of lunches... but it's a good start.... please see 2 postings down about eating out...

it's a shame too... i had to throw out about 10 lbs of various meats.. all got freezer burned.. ugh... oh well thawing sometimes takes too long...

ps my wife wanted to point out she ate the same lunch since august....

pss. apparently our eating out also affected my wife's lunch...

on a good note... tomorrow's dinner is spaghetti carbonara ...easy..fattening and delicious... this wonderful meal is made or broken on the quality of the bacon...i prefer boars head due to its vast availability and quality

the secret's out .. life was busy.. eat out...

take the combination of being lazy (or lack of interest) with being extremely busy during the last 2 months of my wife's corporate job.... she was training for her new job while working extremely long days at her corp job...

the problem is in 2 parts:

part 1: we had no idea when wife would get off work...430pm or 730pm?... my poor wife was overstressed and overworked.. is it a light dinner or heavy dinner or just almost straight to bed?

part 2: during this time our kitchen saw amazingly low use.. i might dirty a pan..rinse and set aside to be cleaned later... repeat for next few commonly used pans.. along with the few favorite knifes... (so now its clean before eat...ugh)

the result: led us to eat out almost every night... wendy's chili/potato... it's fast and easy (and cheap)... or we could savor the company of each other in the late night's by also eating out at our favorite restaurant... we sit at table 37 and get treated like royalty by the staff there....

honestly .. the person that works the most does not want to help in the kitchen.. so we would have disjointed conversations at best while i made dinner (no complaint, i love to cook) but by they time dinner prep was over it was 830pm some nights.... heartburn city too because of it being so late...

so i think we maintained our sanity by avoiding the chore of making the nutritious meals ourselves... so the secret is out.... now through some conversational slips of thought most of our close friends now know that we have not reciprocated in the dinner invite because our kitchen is a disaster..no health codes ... just non-functional....

but time to celebrate for our joint guts... wife's last full day at corp job was jan 31, 09... ready for the irony.... we now have the time (and less stress) to eat meals at home knowing the exact out of work time (no more suprise late nights).......................... and get ready for it...................... we celebrate by ............................ yep.. you guessed it............ eating out.....

boy....start a habit....but that is another posting..

mother in law and the couch

standing on couch.... funny how our parents told us not to stand on the furniture... i just never knew they (the furniture) fought back.... the couch launched my poor mother/law off and into the corner of a wall.. 8 stitches later (ER visit required) ... she's all good though.... hard head... now don't be reading between any lines on that one either....

the funnest saturday in years

this has been the first saturday my wife and i had off without using vacation time for either sickness or business in years... my wife has a new noncorporate job now... just mon-fri noon to six... wonderful... well at the end of her first official week we both spent about 4 hours reorganizing the office... it was the funnest time we had in a long time... we turned the desk around and i used my navy skills of ceiling to floor cleaning along the way....we found out the baseboard is actually a true black..not a lighter shade of gray... and how does dust stick to a vertical surface anyways?...

yes her salary has decreased (we haven't felt it yet...) but it was just so much fun.... to discover that we will have weekends again.. to discover that planning a vacation no longer requires the corresponding meetings at work to plan and quible with all the other members of management of who gets what days off...

yep.. this is going to be fun....

old navy buddies

okay... the reason i haven't posted in 3 days...

old buddies... uss gettysburg (CG-64) and uss constition (old ironsides) have been taking up my time on facebook...boy it is wonderful to have technology to catch up with friends that are seperated by miles and years..

totally cool....now its almost just about a part time job to catch up...

bonds of friendship.. insight to self...

navy buddies... i have just spent probably 4 hours today making new links to old friends in facebook... we served on board uss constitution and uss gettysburg ... it's hard to explain, but there is nothing like the kinship that one achieves when serving so closely with others in the military... for some it's been 15 years since i have last seen them.... they have families now... or they just have a bigger family... some were men of weak moral aptitude and others were men of strength that honored their covenants to their wives and girlfriends when out to sea... but there was always a silent confidence that if i needed help... any one would speak up.... no matter the personal feelings of annoyance.. i guess this is what eventually turns men of weak characters into men of strength.. i guess they witness first hand what it is to disagree, even vehemently, at times with you (me), but then be the first to volunteer to do your (my) watch if the need arose...

the ethics of professionalism developed during the workday would bleed into the personal lives of the men during the off times...it just wouldn't do the other way around... the ones who could not wouldn't last very long...so this is why i have a special affinity for anyone that served more than just the minimum in the military...

it's the character of strength i admire and hope that in myself i have retained just enough to remain extra-ordinary... it would be a pity to discover in myself that i lost that character i learned 15 years ago...which leads to a very difficult question... what would the quality of the handshake be if i were to meet the mentors i had from this time? .. could i look them in the eye or allow my eyes to wander in embarrassment?... i think i'll leave the last question open/rhetorical for the moment as i ponder its significance.... (the wonderful thing is.. my wife knows the answer... 2nd scary ponder... am i ready to listen) ... (or jokingly should i just give up and buy the next most expensive toy.. NOT!!!... )

ps....
this is just amazing.. i love the technology that allows people from all over the country to reconnect and laugh at very old jokes and make new ones...

its a secret...

well actually not... just not as many people read my blog as my wife's... she just can't currently sit at the computer.. our red computer chair that is front of it isn't quite agreeing with my wife yet... so there it is.... no updates on her blog and an update on my blog about her.... but thankfully she can knit so i'm not being driven nuts.... lol...ha ha....

why i don't clean my windows

apparently it's for the birds... i mean really... not the saying of who cares, why do it?..but actually for real birds... just trying to minimize the headaches of birds... one of the blogs i follow shows a picture of feathers stuck to a window from a bird smack.... taken together with the cute dog pictures; it creates a good laugh... the kind of laugh where you have to poke the next nearest person incessantly until they notice and start laughing too... (my wife's back is hurting so i turned down my desire to do this) but i was still obnoxious during an episode of American iron chef ..

thanks for the laugh...

can we get a new back and hip joints ordered please

okay... my wife does this about once every 2 years... usually involving a slip in the tub.. but this time no tub... and she has no idea how she did it... but boy does it look pathetically painful... on the bright side... she was just able to leave a note at her new job and come home to recoup... i am so glad she is out of the corporate world...

hair vs. vacuum brush

let me first of point out... i love long hair... especially if its on my wife.... during my last cleaning episode.. something started to smoke on the vacuum... no big deal.. unplug and figure it out later... did you know there are ball bearings inside the roller brush... i didn't either till i cleaned all the hair out from everything.... just on the brush alone it was 1/4 inch thick and i thought the see through window on top was too scratched to see through any more... ha ha ha... it was hair hiding the neon green bristles....

i think my wife is shedding... or at least I'm driving her crazy and her hair is falling out..

so let this be a warning to all men that have wives with long hair... don't wait to clean the brush down to the ball bearings... it takes about 2 hours... and if the pets are shedding too... clean it more often.. ugh... no wonder the vacuum guy charges so much...

sorry if this is boring for ya... but it was quite traumatic for me..

husband has computer..wife has bed...

okay.. there are certain instances during which either sxe (misspelled to avoid google search) of the husband/wife team becomes oblivious to the inquiries and responses of the initiator... i for one am woefully inadequate on my attention span and short term memory retention if the following condition is true: computer is on; i am in front of it ... my wife, on the other hand, just reminded me that if i discuss with her prior to sleep, same thing... as evidenced by a preceding statement i, myself, uttered in attempting to trigger synaptic recovery of a previous conversation "while you were falling asleep" ... yes yes ... i should have known .... "here's my sign"...

day 2...still nothing to write about...so i have a happy marriage

yep... i must be still boring... but maybe... just maybe i have learned all the secrets to a happy marriage... perhaps i have so figured out my wife so well that i no longer have the necessity to improve myself... yep; that must be it.... just call me the idiot savant of a happy marriage...

drawing a blank

okay... i suddenly feel excessively boring.... i had tons of fun today..but most of it occurred while my wife was at her last day of working sundays (like hopefully never ever again) ... so i've already told her what happened all day.. so now my brain is just empty...sorry fans ... so, i guess this one time, i'll let my wife got the best of me...

renewed ambitions apparently require the mundane also

yes...okay.. the beginning of the new year started out quite drastically yes....the suspense i am sure is just exhausting... yes the new year required all things to be washed that lay flat to dry....boy what an exciting beginning...

new year..great dinner...such awesome possibilities

okay...haven't blogged in a while...haven't followed my friends blogs either (shamefully not even my wife's...but dont worry she keeps me up to date personally on how her life is going)...

i was stuck in a computer envy rut..why...who knows (i still have the best IMHO)... but tonight i went to a wonderful dinner and listened to former pro football player tracey eaton speak... to sum it up.... it was awesome.. i feel rejuvenated ... empowered to start enjoying life to the fullest again....my wife's painfully exhausting job will soon be over and her new enjoyable one will be fully started... i think we can both see the light at the end of the tunnel now...okay...it's late...the clicking on the keyboard is keeping her up.. got to go.....
